For those of you who have an interest in local history and the Covenanters, there will be a service at the old Meikle Earnock grave yard this Sunday at 3:00 pm. Entrance is at the Millgate Road End.

This Cemetery contains not one stone in remembrance of the local people, including Covenanters and the Miners who were killed there.
LET THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED FOR OUR EXISTENCE HERE TODAY, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I’ve always wondered what that patch of land was – having heard mention of it being a burial ground of some kind. Is there a record of the names of any of the individuals buried there? Does anyone also know over how many years it was a burial ground and why it was abandoned? Thanks.
